Fuerteventura wurde auch beim 30. Jubiläum seinem Ruf treu und produzierte erneut perfekte Windbedingungen für neun Tage explosiver Windsurfingaction. Die Freestyler eröffneten die Veranstaltung in spannungsgeladenem Stil. Am Schluss war die Überraschung perfekt- der belgische Meister Dieter Van der Eyken (Starboard / Severne) liefert die (bislang) beste Leistung seines Lebens und gewinnt zum ersten Mal einen Event der PWA Freestyle Worldtour. Weniger überraschend, aber mit einer herausragenden Leistung, wird Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) zum achten Mal in Folge Weltmeisterin. Bei den Slalomracern zeigt Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) warum er bislang 22 WM-Titel gewann, auch auf Fuerteventura dominiert er das gesamt Feld und erweitert seinen Vorsprung in der Gesamtwertung der 2015er World Slalom Tour. Freestyle Men’s With Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP / NeilPryde) missing from proceedings many thought it would be Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo standing at the top of the podium come the end of the event. However, the reigning world champion wasn’t at full fitness after coming down with an ill-timed bout of chicken pox, which saw Gollito withdraw from the contest after the first double elimination. This opened the door for a number of other candidates to take the event crown and it was Dieter Van der Eyken (Starboard / Severne) who rose to the occasion as he consistently produced the best performances of his life heat-after-heat. The Belgian qualified for his first winners’ final ever in the second single elimination, losing out to Kiri Thode (Starboard / GA Sails), before getting the bit between his teeth in the second double as he set his sights on a maiden event victory. The Belgian was simply unstoppable as he landed perfect spock into culos, monster air skopus and kabikuchis to defeat Amado Vrieswijk (JP / Severne) twice and earn the sweet taste of victory for the first time, whilst also heading to the top of the overall PWA Freestyle World rankings. Kiri Thode (Starboard / GA Sails) won the opening double elimination as he combined more explosive combos to take down his rivals. However, there was nothing he could do to stop Dieter Van der Eyken in the second double and so had to settle for third place, which sees the 2013 PWA Freestyle World Champion rise into second place overall. Thode is heavily in contention for another world title going into the final event of the year - currently tied on points with Van der Eyken. Nicolas Akgazciyan (99NoveNove / Point-7 / AL360 / Maui Ultra Fins) sailed better than ever in Fuerteventura as he secured the final place on the prestigious podium. The Frenchman finished in the top five in both double eliminations as he sailed with power, speed and style to earn his best result. Akgazciyan also landed an absolutely incredible ankle-dry shifty - which was one of the moves of the entire contest. Third place in Fuerte sees Akgazciyan rise to joint fourth in the overall rankings. Having finished the opening double elimination in joint ninth - Amado Vrieswijk - came out with all guns blazing in the second double. The Bonairean had been hampered with a slight knee injury, but threw caution to the wind as he landed trademark air kabikuchis and double culos to win his first ever single elimination - before finishing second in the second double. Vrieswijk takes home fourth place overall in Fuerte, which sees him rise to third overall in the world. Tonky Frans (Tabou / GA Sails / AL360) sailed in his usual super stylish manor to return to the top ten after a slightly disappointing start to the season in France. The Bonairean pulled off trademark bongkas, backloops, paskos and pushloops on the way out as he showed off his jumping supremacy. Frans now sits in ninth place overall. Antony Ruenes (Tabou / GA Sails) was desperately unlucky to finish in sixth place in the end. The Frenchman had been in irresistible form in the single - finishing third - before injuring his foot whilst freesailing. Ruenes sailed through the pain barrier in the second double and was still able to win two heats - defeating both Max Rowe (Fanatic / North) and Bjorn Saragoza (Starboard / Hot Sails Maui) - as he rotated through technical regular stance chachoos and one-handed clew-first flakas to name just a couple. Fully fit there’s no doubt Ruenes would’ve gone further and he will now focus on making a full recovery before the final event of the year in Sylt. Phil Soltysiak (Starboard / Sailworks) sailed superbly in the second double elimination as he won three successive heats - first taking down Nic Hibdige (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic), Nick van Ingen (Fanatic / North / Maui Ultra Fins) and finally Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Sails / Mystic) in what was one of the closest heats of the contest to take home seventh place. Davy Scheffers (Tabou / GA Sails) made the podium in the second single elimination, before just losing out to Kiri Thode in the double. Seventh place in Fuerte sees the Dutchman occupy joint sixth with Taty Frans in the overall rankings at the moment. The top ten was completed by Balz Muller (Patrik / Severne) and Taty Frans, who share joint ninth.
Women’s Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) proved once again that she is the undisputed Queen of Freestyle over the course of the event as she won every single heat. The Aruban gem combined smooth sliding moves with the latest power moves exploding through perfect burners and culos to claim an emphatic victory, which sees her claim an incredible eighth successive world title. Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) finishes the year as the PWA Freestyle Vice-World Champion again having also claimed second in 2014. The Norwegian landed big shakas and flakas to defend her place against Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins). Maaike Huvermann showed plenty of progress again this year and the seventeen year old was rewarded with another place on the prestigious podium - as well as being crowned the PWA Youth World Champion . Huvermann finished sixth last year here but continues to learn moves and looks as though she’ll be an even bigger threat in 2016. Yoli de Brendt (Fanatic / North) finished in fourth place overall for 2015 as the Venezuelan combined her stylish sliding moves to progress. Arrianne Aukes (RRD / Simmer / Maui Ultra Fins) was upset with her performance here in Fuerte after finishing fifth, but you can be sure that the Dutch beauty will be back stronger than ever next year, whilst Maxime van Gent (Fanatic / North / Maui Ultra Fins) completes 2015 in sixth place. Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) dominated in Fuerteventura as the reigning world champion cemented his place at the top of the overall rankings with a commanding performance. AA won three out of the eight eliminations completed, whilst qualifying for all but one winners’ final as he sent out a clear warning sign that he’s going to be incredibly hard to beat over the remainder of the season. Antoine Albeau speaks after another brilliant performance in Fuerteventura: “Fuerte for me is one of the best places for windsurfing. I always look forward to coming here because you have good wind everyday here, which makes for a great event, so thanks again to Rene Egli and his team who make a huge effort to bring us back each year. It’s a real pleasure to come back and every time it’s another big battle with the guys, so I’m super happy to have managed to win here again. Thanks to everyone again.” Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) moves up into second place in the overall world rankings after another great performance in Fuerteventura, which is the Brit’s second podium finish in 2015. The Brit has found the kind of consistency required to compete at the very top of the sport this season and qualified for over half of this week’s winners’ finals top another great event. Matteo Iachino (Fanatic / North) backed up his maiden event victory in Costa Brava with a solid second place in Fuerte as he moves into third place in the overalls. The Italian was in superb form as he continued to look lighting quick, which saw him qualify for the first six finals out of six. At this point Iachino and Albeau were almost inseparable, but he then missed out on the finals in the next two eliminations, but will still be delighted with his work this week. Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North) and Ben Van der Steen (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) finished level on points - missing out on the podium by just 0.7 of a point. The Frenchman finishes just ahead of Van der Steen in fourth with a better count back. Mortefon drops back one place into fourth in the overalls, whilst Van der Steen remains in seven place. Taty Frans secured a top ten finish in the slalom as well as the freestyle as he claimed sixth place overall in Fuerteventura. The Bonairean also won his first ever elimination in the sixth race after timing another start to perfection as he led from start to finish and qualified the at least in top sixteen all but once as he produced his best form ever at a slalom event. As always the French featured heavily in the top ten with Cyril Moussilmani (Starboard / Severne), Cedric Bordes (Tabou / GA Sails), Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) and Pacal Toselli (99NoveNove / Point-7) finishing 7th-10th respectively. Finian Maynard (99NoveNove) finished 24th in Fuerteventura, which is especially commemorative of the late and great Peter Volwater - H-24. Maynard was especially close to Peter as a best friend over their 18 years together on the PWA tour. “This week was particularly hard to compete as Peter was always on the mind, especially on Day 1; very difficult indeed. Fuerte was one of his favourites over the years. The result of 24th is not what I aimed for but it is such a sign from above to finish on Peter’s sail number, a 1.9% chance! We all miss and love you Peter and thinking of you everyday.” Fuerteventura re-enhanced its reputation as one of the most exciting events on the tour after another epic nine days on the 30th anniversary of the event. Am vorletzten Tag des 2015 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam wurde die am Vortag gestartete, siebte Elimination abgeschlossen. Bei erneut schwächerem Wind, es wurden rund 10- 20 Knoten gemessen, konnte heute die achte Wettfahrt beendet werden.  Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) gewann sowohl die siebte als auch die achte Elimination und hat im Eventranking nun einen deutlichen Vorsprung gegenüber seinen Konkurrenten. Elimination Seven / Winners’ Final Pascal Toselli (99NoveNove / Point-7) made the best start in the opening winners’ final of the day, but it was Antoine Albeau who led the way ahead of Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails), Toselli and Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) as the fleet gybed around the first mark. AA made no mistakes over the remainder of the course as he took full advantage of Matteo Iachino’s (Fanatic / North) absence to assert himself at the top of the rankings. In the meantime Questel was able to keep Toselli at bay to finish in second place, whilst Ben Van der Steen (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) out manoeuvred teammate Ross Williams to claim fourth.   Elimination Eight / Winners’ Final The second final of the day saw both Pascal Toselli and Ludovic Jossin (Patrik / GA Sails) disqualified after both sailors jumped the gun. With two elimination victories in the bag Antoine Albeau continued to apply the pressure and even though Steve Allen (Starboard / Severne) made the best start, it was Albeau who led at the first again - just like the in previous winners’ final. Allen held onto second place, with Williams, Cedric Bordes (Tabou / GA Sails) and Malte Reuscher (JP / NeilPryde) just behind. Albeau extended his lead over the remainder of the course to claim his third bullet of the event and his lead now is almost unassailable. Meanwhile, Williams was able to overtake Allen for second place, with the Australian finishing in third place ahead of Bordes. Jordy Vonk (Starboard / Point-7) enjoyed a better day today as the Dutchman won both of his opening heats to earn his best result so far at this event - 15th. Whilst the top two places look secured for Albeau and Iachino - barring disaster for either of them tomorrow - the battle for the final place on the heralded podium is incredibly tight. At the moment Ross Williams occupies third but Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North), Ben Van der Steen and Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Sails / Mystic) are all still in contention with just 0.7 of a point separating Williams from Mortefon and Van der Steen, whilst Frans is also just 2 points away, so there is no room for error for any of them if they want to clinch the final place on the podium. The forecast looks light for tomorrow, but there’s still a chance of wind if Sotavento’s local affect kicks in. The skippers’ meeting has been called for 11am with the action commencing from 11:30am. Der diesjährige Sommer meint es wirklich gut mit uns Windsurfern. Nach einem guten Juni geht es nahtlos im Juli mit vielen windigen Tagen weiter. Auch die Zahl der Teilnehmer beim bayerischen Speed Kini 2015 nimmt weiterhin zu, mittlerweile finden sich 60 Teilnehmer im Ranking. Der Walchensee zählt nach wie vor zu den beliebtesten Seen zum speeden. Neu in der Wertung, Frank Alfons, der am 15. Juli am Walchensee Gas gab und seine erste Zeit geschickt hat. Drei Tage später verbessern sich Bernd Stegmüller auf Rang 25, Michael Bischof auf Rang 11, Matthias Groß auf Rang 41. (Platzierungen laut Rangliste vom 31.7.) Aber auch an den anderen bayerischen Seen tut sich etwas, Ralf Kott steigt mit seiner Zeit von durchschnittlich 24.68 Knoten an der Lechstaustufe in die Wertung ein. Am Altmühlsee fährt Werner Müller am 14. Juli im Durchschnitt 22,345 Knoten. Sebastian Schöffel fährt am 18. Juli am Ammersee auf Rang 13. Am 25. Juli zog Sturmtief "Zeljko" über Bayern hinweg und brachte richtig viel Wind. Andy Laufer lies es an seinem Homespot Ammersee erneut krachen und fährt Geschwindigkeiten, die bis vor kurzem kaum einer für möglich gehalten hat. Unglaubliche 32,99 Knoten über 500m, Topspeed 36,31 Knoten und damit 34,65 Knoten im Durchschnitt, gefahren mit einem Point-7 AC-ONE 8.6 und Patrik SL 128, sind die Bilanz des stürmischen Tages. Etwas weiter nördlich, im fränkischen Seenland ging es auch zur Sache. Am Altmühlsee fährt Jan Seidel (GER 987) mit 31,41 über 500m, 34,91 Topsspeed, durchschnittlich 33,16 Knoten (Mauisails TR X 6.3 und Patrik SL92) auf Rang 3 der Wertung. Am benachbarten Brombachsee waren Birgit Höfer (GER 117), Armin Höfer (GER 76) und Rainer Motloch (GER 32) gemeinsam auf dem Wasser. Die Bilanz des gemeinsamen Ausfluges – Speedsurferin Birgit fährt auf einem Fanatic Falcon 79 und 5,6er Loftsails Blade sehr schnelle 28,27 Knoten über 500m, 30,71 Knoten Topspeed und führt mit durchschnittlich 29,49 Knoten souverän die Damenwertung an. Rainer Motloch, seit kurzem mit Severne Sails unterwegs, fuhr bei seiner ersten Session mit den neuen Tüchern 32,1 Knoten über 500m, Topspeed 33,55 Knoten, Durchschnitt 32,825 Knoten (Severne Overdrive 7.8 und RRD X-Fire 114 V6) und damit auf Platz 4.  Armin Höfer liegt knapp dahinter auf Rang 5, er fuhr 30,61 Knoten über 500m, 33,43 Topspeed, Durchschnitt 32,02 Knoten mit seinem Loftsails Blade 7.0 und Fanatic Falcon 112. Direkte Duelle an den Spots bringen offensichtlich immer wieder neue, schnelle Zeiten. Ein harter Kampf findet zwischen Otto Weber und Mario Gotthardt am Alpsee statt. Mario liegt derzeit auf Platz 7 mit 31 Knoten über 500m, Topspeed 32,5 Knoten und 31,75 im Durchschnitt, gefahren mit einem Severne Overdrive 7.0 und RRD X-Fire 122 V6. Und auch an der Lechstaustufe matchen sich Richard Fritsch und Niklas Rottenbach regelmäßig. Derzeit führt Richard Fritsch mit durchschnittlich 28,68 Knoten an der Lechstaustufe, im Gesamtranking ist er auf Platz 20. Mit Formulaspezialist Ralf Gartner sind es mittlerweile 60 Teilnehmer beim diesjährigen Speed Kini. Ralf fuhr am 27. Juli mit einem NP RS Racing Evo 6 - 8,7 und  Starboard Formula 167 am Ammersee 28,21 Knoten über 500m, Topspeed 31,18 Knoten, durchschnittlich 29,695 Knoten und reiht sich damit auf Platz 15 ein. Auch bei den Junioren wird hart gekämpft und mit mittlerweile 8 Startern im Ranking wird deutlich, dass auch beim Nachwuchs speedsurfen angesagt ist. Dominik Gotthardt fährt am 14. Juli am Alpsee mit einem Durchschnittsspeed von 24,345 Knoten auf Rang 3 der Jugendwertung. An der Lechstaustufe bei Augsburg pushen sich Leonhard Weng und Neil Rottenbach gegenseitig, derzeit führt Leonhard mit 18,595 (500m 16,67 Kts, Topspeed 20,55 Kts) vor Neil mit 17,67 (500m 15,09 Kts, Topspeed 20,25). Noch vier Monate haben alle Speeder Zeit sich im Ranking nach oben zu arbeiten, der Speed Kini 2015 endet am 30.11.15. Wir hoffen auf viele weitere windige Tage.

Der Tag begann mit starker Bewölkung, nicht gerade die besten Voraussetzungen für starken Wind im Süden Fuerteventuras. Kurz nach Mittag legte der Wind doch noch zu, allerdings nicht mehr so stark wie an den beiden Vortagen. Bei 10- 20 Knoten Wind, die Racer waren mit 8.5er und 7.8er Segeln auf dem Wasser, wurde die siebte Elimination gestartet. Bevor jedoch die beiden Finals gefahren werden konnten, schlief der Wind ein. Elimination Seven For the first time this week Matteo Iachino (Fanatic / North) was knocked out of an elimination - before today the Italian had qualified for all six winners’ finals, but failed to qualify from Heat 10 as Enrico Marotti (JP / NeilPryde), Ethan Westera (Starboard / GA Sails), Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) and Malte Reuscher (JP / NeilPryde) advanced. The Italian will be able to discard the result once the road is complete, but Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) will have an opportunity to extend his lead in the winners’ final tomorrow. In Heat 11 Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) made a storming comeback to defy the odds and make the next round. The Brit looked out of contention after the first gybe, but somehow managed to battle back to pip Kasper Larsen (Starboard / Loft Sails) into fourth place as they crossed the finish line. Cyril Moussilmani (Starboard / Severne) looked to have his place in the final secured, but Pascal Toselli (99NoveNove / Point-7) came flying down the final leg to grab the final qualifying place. Meanwhile, Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Sails / Mystic), Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails) and Ross Williams completed the top four. Maciek Rutkowski (Patrik / Point-7) enjoyed his fair share of bad luck yesterday - after being taken out twice when in a qualifying place - but today things clicked as the Pole navigated his way into his first winners’ final of the week after coming second in Heat 13 - Italian Malte Reuscher also booked his place in his opening winners’ final of the event after holding off Julien Quentel for fourth. Antoine Albeau safely secured his place in the final again after a convincing victory, whilst Ben Van der Steen (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) also qualified. The winners’ final was started which resulted in Taty Frans being disqualified for a premature start. One more attempt was made to sail the final, but the wind dropped just before the green flag. After a short period on hold the fleet was released for the day at 5:25pm The forecast looks lighter than today and with the gradient wind predicted to be more from the North it could prove tricky to complete further races tomorrow. With cloud also being predicted for the morning the skippers’ meeting has been called for 11am with the action commencing from 11:30am. Auch am siebten Tag des Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam und dem zweiten Tag der Slalomrennen funktioniert die Windmaschine in Sotavento wie ein Uhrwerk. Auch am heutigen Tag konnten drei Eliminations abgeschlossen werden. Das Niveau der Racer ist extrem hoch, in den drei Rennen des Tages gab es erneut drei verschiedene Sieger. Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North) gewann die erste Elimination des Tages bevor ihm Ben van der Steen (Tabou / GA Segel / Mystic) in Elimination fünf die Show stahl. Im sechsten Rennen war es Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Segel / Mystic) der sich mit herausragender Performance im letzten Rennen des Tages behauptete und seine erste Elimination überhaupt gewann. Elimination Four/ Winners’ Final Nineteen year old - Benjamin Auge (RRD / RRD) - and seventeen year old - Ethan Westera (Starboard / GA Sails) - both qualified for their first winners’ final on the PWA Slalom World Tour as they sailed with expertise beyond their years and Auge made the best start of the pack. However, after screaming down the opening reach Pierre Mortefon moved into the lead with Matteo Iachino and Taty Frans also prominently placed. The top three raced clear of the rest of the pack as Ben Van der Steen caused chaos at the opening mark after dropping his gybe. From here Mortefon continued to put his pedal to the metal and he was soon taking the chequered flag to claim his first victory of the week. Behind him Frans was able to overtake Iachino to finish second and third respectively, whilst Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails) recovered to finish fourth.
Alexandre Cousin (Patrik / Loft Sails / Mystic), Enrico Marotti (JP / NeilPryde) and Nick van dem Eerenbeemt (JP / NeilPryde) all received a bye into the quarterfinals after John Skye (RRD / RRD / MFC), Valentin Brault (Exocet), Alejandro Alcazar (Fanatic / North) and Fernando Martinez (Patrik / Point-7) were all disqualified from Heat 3.
Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) was also disqualified from the round after being adjudged to have interfered with the start of Heat 8 as the man from Saint Maarten was preparing for the start of Heat 9.   Elimination Five / Winners’ Final The second winners’ final started in dramatic fashion as Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) jumped the gun and was disqualified for a premature start. Upon the restart Ben Van der Steen made no mistake in his second final of the day as the flying Dutchman opened up a decisive lead by the third buoy to win his first elimination of the year, whilst Pierre Mortefon and Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) both benefitted from Josh Angulo’s (Angulo / Gun Sails) shaky gybe at the last as they moved up into second and third place respectively - with Angulo having to settle for fourth.
Tempers flared in Heat 11 after Cedric Bordes (Tabou / GA Sails) gybed into Maciek Rutkowski (Patrik / Point-7) at the final mark. Bordes attempted to gybe inside the Pole as he desperately tried to snatch the final qualifying place, but in the end neither man qualified as Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails) was waiting in the wings to take advantage of any mistake.   Elimination Six / Winners’ Final Taty Frans had been looking blisteringly quick all day and in the winners’ final the Bonairean was able to link all of the pieces of the jigsaw together to claim his first ever elimination victory on the PWA Slalom World Tour. Frans led from start to finish as he burned away the rest of the pack with his pace and textbook gybing sending him clear and he was clearly delighted as he crossed the finish line. Matteo Iachino concluded another fine day with a solid second place, whilst Albeau finished third - which means there is just one point separating the two sailors at the top of the event rankings now. Meanwhile, Ross Williams was able to navigate his way past Sebastian Kördel (Starboard / GA Sails) to complete the top four.

Ambitionierte Freestyler haben in gut drei Wochen die Chance, beim Pringles Kitesurf World Cup in St. Peter-Ording (21. – 30. August) gegen die Top-Stars des Trendsports  anzutreten. Das Wassersport-Highlight an der Nordsee ist nicht nur die einzige deutsche Station auf der World Tour, sondern auch eine von nur zwei World Qualifiers Freestyle der Weltserie. Während in den vergangenen Jahren vor jedem World Cup ein Qualifying ausgetragen wurde, gibt es in diesem Jahr nur noch zwei Qualifikationen, die für alle folgenden Events zählen: Am Anfang und in der Mitte der Saison. Beim Pringles Kitesurf World Cup in St. Peter-Ording werden also die Karten wieder neu gemischt. Im Freestyle haben vier Frauen und sieben Männer die Chance, sich für die Hauptrunde in St. Peter-Ording und in den folgenden vier World Cups zu qualifizieren. Das Hauptfeld besteht bei den Damen grundsätzlich aus zwölf und bei den Herren aus 24 Startplätzen, von denen sieben Damen und 14 Herren gesetzt sind. Dazu werden zwei Wildcards bei den Männern und eine bei den Frauen vergeben, die allerdings nur für den Pringles Kitesurf World Cup gelten. Zu Saisonbeginn nahmen 38 Männer und 15 Frauen an der ersten Qualifikation in Marokko teil, die veranstaltende Agentur Act Agency aus Hamburg geht davon aus, dass diese Zahl am Ordinger Strand, allein wegen der vielen deutschen Starter, getoppt wird. Mindestens einen Tag haben die Organisatoren für die Qualifikationsläufe veranschlagt, bei denen engagierte Amateur-Kitesurfer auf gestandene Profis treffen. Dabei kommen die Zuschauer schon voll auf ihre Kosten, denn die Leistungsdichte im Kitesurfen ist auf internationaler Ebene extrem hoch. Die Besucher können sich also bereits in der Vorrunde auf ein wahres Trick-Feuerwerk freuen, das danach im Hauptfeld von der absoluten Weltspitze fortgesetzt wird. Wer es nicht ins Main-Event geschafft hat, kann sich bei Top-Stars wie Weltmeister Christophe Tack aus Belgien oder den letztjährigen Siegern von St. Peter-Ording, Aaron Hadlow aus Großbritannien oder der Polin Karolina Winkowska, ein paar Tricks und Moves abschauen. Oder aber zusammen mit den Besuchern die spannenden Wettfahrten in der zweiten Disziplin Slalom ansehen, die Strandatmosphäre und das bunte Rahmenprogramm genießen und abends bei  abwechslungsreichem Partyprogramm abfeiern.

Schon am ersten Tag gab es richtig viel Action bei den Slalomracern. Anfangs wurde noch mit 7.0er Segeln gefahren, doch schon bald wurden die kleinsten Segel und Boards ausgepackt. Bei Windstärken von 25-35 Knoten über den ganzen Tag gab es spannenden High-Speed-Slalom. Die Bedingungen waren anspruchsvoll, extremes Kabbelwasser und kleine Wellen an den inneren Tonnen machte jede Halse tückisch und es gab eine Reihe von massiven Stürzen. Drei Eliminations wurden heute abgeschlossen. Der amtierende Weltmeister - Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) – baut seine Führung aus, er schaffte es in jeder Elimination in das Winners Final und gewann die letzte Elimination. Josh Angulo (Angulo / Gun Sails) made the best start to the winners’ final, but couldn’t hold onto his lead into the first mark as Micah Buzianis (JP) came storming down the first reach to move into first place, however Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North) was ruled out of contention after gybing into the buoy. The American’s lead didn’t last long though as he dropped his second gybe. Just behind Buzianis was Matteo Iachino (Fanatic / North) and the Italian seized the opportunity presented before him to pick up exactly where he left off from in Costa Brava to claim the opening bullet of the week - after doing well to hold off Antoine Albeau at the third gybe. Meanwhile, Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails), continued his excellent start to the season as the Brit finished third, whilst Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails) came fourth.   Elimination Two / Winners’ Final
The second race of the day saw an amazing battle between Micah Buzianis and Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Sails / Mystic) with only 30 centimetres separating the two sailors as they crossed the finish line. Frans had looked to have burnt the American off on the penultimate reach, but Buzianis came absolutely flying down the final leg to snatch victory from Frans’s grasp, which more than made up for his error in the previous final. Pierre Mortefon made no mistakes in his second winners’ final as he claimed third place with Antoine Albeau just behind in fourth.   Three of the contests youngest sailors also showed they are already capable of mixing it with the best in the world as Ethan Westera (Starboard / GA Sails) (17), Aron Etmon (Starboard / Severne / Dunkerbeck Eyewear) (17) and Miguel Bruggeman (RRD / RRD / Mystic) (19) all managed to advance into the quarterfinals.   Elimination Three /  Winners’ Final The French continued to dominate the slalom scene with six out of the eight sailors in the winners’ final being from France. Antoine Albeau capped off a great day with his first elimination victory of the year as he led from start to finish in the last race of the day. AA sailed with blistering speed and superb control in the choppy waters to blow the rest of his rivals away, whilst rising to the top of the event rankings. Behind him Matteo Iachino continued his fine form as he backed up his earlier bullet and sixth place with a second. The top four was completed by Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) and Ben Van der Steen (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic), who sits fourth in the event rankings after the first day of racing. Pierre Mortefon was desperately unlucky after his mast snapped on the second leg resulting in a massive wipeout for the Frenchman.
John Skye (RRD / RRD / MFC) achieved his best single result in a slalom elimination today as the Brit finished second in the losers’ final to finish tenth overall in the third round. Skye produced a textbook third gybe to manoeuvre his way into the top two - with fellow countryman Ross Williams winning heat 15.

Für die Freestyler endete gestern der Worldcup in Fuerteventura nach 5 sehr spannenden Tagen. Für Dieter van der Eyken (Starboard / Severne) lief es hervorragend, er gewann seinen ersten PWA Event! Nach seinem zweiten Platz in der zweiten Single Elimination verteidigte der Belgier am letzten Tag seine Position gegen Kiri Thode  (Starboard / GA Sails) und schuf damit die Grundlage für den Sieg. Nach Punkten lagen die Fahrer der letzten Heats extrem nahe zusammen. Dieter musste im Finale der Double Elimination gegen Amado Vrieswijk (Starboard / Severne) gewinnen, der am Vortag die Hinrunde gewann. Die gewann er auch, war aber immer noch nicht am Ziel. Beide Freestyler hatten dann jeweils ein Finale gewonnen (Amado die Hinrunde, Dieter die Rückrunde). Erst ein Superfinale brachte die Entscheidung – Dieter setze sich in einem sehr spannenden Finale gegen Amado durch und den 2015er PWA Freestyle World Cup Fuerteventura. Kiri Thode wird Zweier, Nicolas Akgazciyan (99NoveNove / Point-7 / Maui Ultra Fins) kann sich über den dritten Platz auf dem Treppchen freuen. Für Amado bedeutet das verlorene Superfinale gleichzeitig nur den vierten Platz in der Eventwertung. Bei den Damen wurde am Finaltag die dritte Single Elimination abgeschlossen, die erneut Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Neilpryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) gewann. Sarah-Quita Offringa gewinnt mit dem 2015er PWA Freestyle World Cup Fuerteventura auch die 2015er Freestyle Tour und ist erneut Freestyle Weltmeisterin. Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) holt den Vize-Titel vor Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) und Yoli de Brendt (Fanatic / North). Heute morgen erreichte uns eine Mitteilung von Avanti Sails, wonach Finian Maynard, Mitgründer der Marke, die Firma verlassen hat. Hier die offizielle Nachricht: In the last couple years, Avanti hasn’t had elite PWA slalom results to back its products.  Like an NFL team that makes the tough decision to replace their aging starting quarterback, Avanti is charging forward to rebuild and refresh its team.  We are a results driven company.  Finian Maynard will not move forward with us as we drive our brand into the future. Everyone in the group is chomping at the bit to inject fresh blood into our slalom and testing programs.  When you have the best technology, you want the best riders to prove it.  Right now, we are actively pursuing an athlete to become the face of our race program going forward.  For our freestyle and wave riders, we are super stoked to continue with Youp, and we congratulate Camille on his current lead in the AWT. Regarding products, the innovation has just begun.  Our ability to individually laminate structural membranes has continued to evolve, and we still have a considerable edge on others in the market.  With better software, and better mapping algorithms, there are huge gains at our fingertips.  Going forward, product design will continue to be spearheaded by founding member, Dan Kaseler.  Dan’s long history of innovation in the industry is unmatched.  On the business side, Dennis Boisen will vastly expand his current duties as the International Sales Manager to run the company from his office on Lake Garda.

We have an enormous opportunity in our hands today.  This ability to inject new talent into the group has massive potential, not only for our results on the race course, but for the overall quality of our products.  Everybody here is excited to take this step.

Nach fünf Tagen ging der Volvo Surf Cup auf Sylt am Sonntag zu Ende. Insgesamt 120.000 Besucher erlebten spannende Rennen bei der IFCA Slalom Weltmeisterschaft und am Sonntag sogar noch ein spektakuläres Waveriding. Mit über 90 Startern aus 17 Nationen wurde ein neuer Teilnehmerrekord aufgestellt.

Der Kieler Vincent Langer (GER-1) schaffte das Meisterstück und sicherte sich den Weltmeistertitel bei der WM im eigenen Land. Der amtierende Deutsche Meister legte bereits im ersten Slalom die Grundlagen für seinen Triumph. Er dominierte das Auftaktrennen. Auch die zweite Ausscheidungsserie konnte der Kieler für sich entscheiden. Damit hatte er sich einen großen Vorsprung herausgearbeitet. Das Ergebnis in der dritten Slalomelimination spielte damit für Langer keine Rolle mehr. Mit Platz acht zeigte er aber auch hier eine starke Leistung. Da nach drei Slaloms jeder Fahrer sein schlechtestes Ergebnis streichen kann, sichert sich Langer mit zwei ersten Plätzen die Idealpunktzahl von 1,4 Punkten. Damit gewinnt er überlegen den Windsurfing Weltmeistertitel 2015 in der Disziplin Slalom.

„Wahnsinn! Ich bin Slalom Weltmeister!“ strahlt der frischgebackene Champion“. „Im letzten Jahr war ich dritter. Im Jahr davor Vizeweltmeister. Jetzt hat es im dritten Anlauf endlich geklappt. Und das noch bei der WM im Heimatland. Mehr geht nicht!“

Auf dem zweiten Platz folgt der Däne Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24). Kornum zeigte eine konstant starke Leistung. Der Däne stieg mit einem dritten Platz in die Weltmeisterschaft ein. In der zweiten Wettfahrt bestätigte er mit Platz vier seine Ambitionen auf eine Topplatzierung. In der Abschlusselimination Nummer drei triumphierte er und konnte sich so mit 3,7 Punkten den Vize-Weltmeistertitel sichern.
„Ich freue mich, Vizeweltmeister zu sein. Normalerweise ist es immer schon eine Niederlage, zweiter zu sein. Aber Vincent gönne ich den Sieg von ganzem Herzen. Er hat eine tolle Leistung auf dem Wasser gezeigt und engagiert sich außerdem stark in der Nachwuchsförderung des Windsurfsports. Wenn hier jemand den Sieg verdient hat, dann er!„ lächelt der sympathische Däne Kornum.

Der Franzose Nicolas Warembourg (FRA-531) folgt denkbar knapp dahinter mit 4,0 Punkten. In zwei Wettfahrten eroberte er Platz zwei. Einmal lief der Franzose auf Platz sechs ein.
„Ich hatte spannende Kämpfe mit Vincent Langer und Sebastian Kornum. Mein Ziel war eine Podiumsplatzierung. Das habe ich geschafft. Ich bin deshalb sehr zufrieden mit meinem Ergebnis bei der Slalom Weltmeisterschaft“ sagt der Franzose Waremburg.

Mit Gunnar Asmussen (GER-88) konnte sich ein weiterer deutscher Fahrer sehr erfolgreich in Szene setzen. Platz sechs, Platz zwei und Platz zehn summieren sich für Asmussen auf 8,0 Punkte. Damit verpasst der Flensburger nur knapp das Podium und sichert sich Platz vier in der Weltmeisterschaftswertung. „Ich bin zweitbester Deutscher bei der Weltmeisterschaft. Damit bin ich sehr zufrieden“ sagt Asmussen. Auch dem Schönberger Nico Prien (GER-7) gelang  mit 18,0 Punkten der Sprung in die Top-10.

Im Damenfeld konnte die für die Türkei startende Lena Erdil (TUR-33) dominieren. Sie siegte in sechs von sieben Rennen und wird so verdienter „IFCA Slalom Women Champion 2015“. Auf Platz zwei folgte die Spanierin Maria Andres (ESP-2) vor Esther de Geus (NED-16) aus den Niederlanden.

Der Volvo Surf Cup war abermals ein großer Erfolg. 120.000 Besucher erlebten Sylt von seiner windigen und sportlichen Seite. Ein neuer Teilnehmerrekord für Weltmeisterschaften dokumentierte die internationale Bedeutung der Veranstaltung. Auch eine Unwetterwarnung konnte dem Erfolg keinen Abbruch tun. Der Sturm bescherte dem Volvo Surf Cup vielmehr als Krönung noch ein Waveriding am Finaltag. In radikalen Bedingungen, bei denen Boote nicht mehr auf die Nordsee konnten zeigten die Wave-Artisten eine großartige Show mit hohen Loopings und spektakulären Wellenritten. Ergebnisse VolvoSurfCup Sylt 2015

Nach drei Tagen kann der Volvo Surf Cup auf Sylt drei komplette Slalom Ausscheidungsserien für die Herren und sogar sieben Slaloms für die Damen auf der Habenseite verbuchen. Trotz eines achten Platzes im dritten Slalom ist der Kieler Vincent Langer (GER-1) weiterhin gut auf Weltmeisterschaftskurs.

Im dritten Slalom der IFCA Slalom Weltmeisterschaft konnten sich mit Vincent Langer und dem Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen (GER-88) zwei deutsche Topfahrer für das Finale qualifizieren. Diesmal konnten sich die Deutschen aber nicht so erfolgreich in Szene setzen, wie in den beiden Wettfahrten zuvor.

Zunächst übernahm der aus Aruba stammende Ethan Westera (ARU-4) die Führung. Er musste dann aber den Dänen Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) passieren lassen. Kornum leistete sich keine Fehler und sicherte sich den Sieg in dieser dritten Wettfahrt. Der Franzose Nicolas Warembourg (FRA-531) wurde zweiter vor Westera. Der Italiener Andrea Ferin (ITA-1111)und der französische Youth World Champion Nicolas Goyard (FRA-465) zeigten abermals starke Leistungen und wurden vierter und fünfter. Langer wurde in dieser dritten Wettfahrt achter. Asmussen punktete mit Platz zehn.

Nach drei Slaloms kann jeder Fahrer sein schlechtestes Ergebnis streichen. Mit zwei ersten Plätzen führt der amtierende Deutsche Meister Langer deshalb mit der Idealpunktzahl von 1,4 Punkten die Weltmeisterschaftswertung an. Auf dem zweiten Platz folgt der Däne Sebastian Kornum, der sich mit einem dritten Platz und einem Laufsieg in der dritten Wettfahrt 3,7 Punkte sichert. Nicolas Warembourg folgt denkbar knapp dahinter mit 4,0 Punkten.

Der Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen liegt aktuell mit 8,0 Punkten auf Platz vier und hat damit eine gute Ausgangsposition für das Finalwochenende. Nicolas Goyard aus Frankreich und der Italiener Andrea Ferin kämpfen um Platz fünf. Die beiden liegen gleichauf mit nur einem Punkt (9,0 Punkte) Rückstand auf Asmussen.

Bei den Damen dominiert weiterhin die für die Türkei startende Lena Erdil (TUR-33). Auf Platz zwei folgt die Spanierin Maria Andres (ESP-2) vor Esther de Geus aus den Niederlanden.

Für das Finalwochenende kündigen sich spektakuläre Bedingungen für den Volvo Surf Cup an. Ein Sturmtief soll mit Böen bis zu 100 km/h Windgeschwindigkeit und drei bis vier Meter hohen Wellen auf die Insel Sylt zurollen. Die Sicherungsmaßnahmen für die Veranstaltung sind auf den Weg gebracht. Gleichzeitig wurde aber auch Wavealarm gegeben. Die führenden Waver aus ganz Deutschland werden sich dann auf den Weg nach Sylt machen, um am Sonntagmorgen ein Waveriding in der sturmgepeitschten Nordsee auszutragen.

Auch am zweiten Tag der IFCA Slalom Weltmeisterschaften spielte der Wind wieder perfekt mit. Bei vier bis fünf Windstärken konnte eine weitere komplette Ausscheidungsserie für das Herrenfeld und gleich drei Wettfahrten für die Damen gestartet werden. Vor einer beeindruckenden Besucherkulisse konnte der Kieler Vincent Langer (GER-1) nach einem packenden Finale den zweiten Sieg für sich verbuchen und ist damit auf Weltmeisterschaftskurs.

Der amtierende deutsche Meister Langer hatte einen guten Start. Kopf an Kopf raste er mit dem französischen Topfahrer Nicolas Warembourg (FRA-531) auf die erste Tonne zu. Der Franzose kam etwas besser aus der Halse und übernahm zunächst die Führung. An Tonne drei ließ Warembourg aber eine Lücke für Langer. Diese Chance ließ sich der Kieler nicht entgehen. Unter dem Jubel der deutschen Windsurffans zog er an Warembourg vorbei und übernahm die Führung. Der Franzose machte viel Druck und versuchte die Führung zurückzuerobern. Dabei übertrieb er es aber etwas, so dass er an der letzten Tonne mit einem schweren Schleudersturz aus dem Rennen um den Sieg in Lauf zwei ausschied.

Der Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen (GER-88) konnte durch den Sturz von Warembourg eine furiose Aufholjagd mit Platz zwei krönen. Asmussen war beim Start etwas zu früh dran und musste deshalb vor der Startlinie abbremsen. So ging er nur als neunter von zehn Finalisten auf die Bahn. Im Verlauf des Rennens konnte sich der Weltmeister von 2013 aber immer weiter nach vorne fahren. Mit dem zweiten Platz wurde er seiner Favoritenrolle gerecht und sicherte sich eine gute Ausgangsposition für den Kampf um den Weltmeistertitel. Der Niederländer Ingmar Daldorf (NED-191) sicherte sich Platz drei. „Danish Dynamite“ Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) und Nicolas Goyard (FRA-465) komplettierten die Top-5 nach der ersten Wettfahrt.

Mit zwei Laufsiegen führt Vincent Langer die Weltmeisterschaftswertung mit der Idealnote von 1,4 Punkten mit großem Vorsprung an. Der Däne Sebastian Kornum folgt mit 7,0 Punkten auf Platz zwei. Nur einen Punkt dahinter liefern sich Gunnar Asmussen aus Flensburg und der Franzose Warembourg ein Kopf-an-Kopf Duell um Platz drei. Beide haben 8,0 Punkte. Aber Asmussen kann sich im Tie-Break aufgrund seines besseren Ergebnisses im zweiten Rennen Platz drei erobern. Nicolas Goyard komplettiert die Top-5.
