The west wind comes with the large-scale weather pattern and reaches both spots. At Übersee almost every windy day comes with west wind.
Seebruck on the north shore and Gstadt are the places to launch in an east wind. Chieming and Übersee are not spots for it. At Chieming the station shows the east wind on the open lake.
Foehn can reach Lake Chiemsee as a south wind, at Übersee usually with 6 to 10 knots and gusts of around 15 to 20 knots. That rarely makes a windy day.

Seebruck on the north shore and Gstadt. Chieming and Feldwies near Übersee are west wind spots.
The DWD station stands about 500 m from the shore and a good 30 m above the lake, fully exposed to the wind. It is a reference for the open lake, meaning sailors and surfers far out. Less wind often reaches the shore.
