Testa und Huvermann gewinnen ihren ersten Event des Jahres

Da der Wind am letzten Tag der EFPT Austria 2022 nicht auffrischte, sind die Ergebnisse nun offiziell! Der Italiener Jacopo Testa (AV-Boards) gewinnt bei den Herren, und die Niederländerin Maaike Huvermann (Severne/MUF) holt sich die Krone bei den Damen. Beide Fahrer standen bei der Siegerehrung am Ufer des Neusiedler Sees ganz oben auf dem Podium. Event-Recap vom EFPT Surf Opening 2022 in Österreich: Da das Double noch nicht ganz beendet war, blieben die Top 3 in beiden Fleets unverändert gegenüber den Ergebnissen der Single Elimination. Bei den Frauen war es Maaike Huvermann (Severne/MUF), die sich dank ihrer konstanten Leistung auf dem Wasser an die Spitze setzte. Die Niederländerin hat einen guten Start bei der Verteidigung ihres Europameistertitels hingelegt. Die Slowenin Lina Eržen (Duotone) belegte den zweiten Platz und zeigte vielversprechende Ansätze für künftige Wettkämpfe, während sie auch in der Tow-In-Disziplin, bei der sie Burner abfeuerte, als wäre nichts gewesen, eine tolle Leistung zeigte. Dritte wurde die Deutsche Lisa Kloster (Sailloft), die gezeigt hat, dass sie mit den Besten der Welt mithalten kann. Wer weiß, was passiert wäre, wenn der Double zum Abschluss gekommen wäre... Bei den Herren war es der Italiener Jacopo Testa (AV-Boards), der den ersten Sieg der Saison einfuhr. Der Europameister von 2017 dominierte das Feld mit seiner Leichtwind-Expertise. Er begeisterte die Judges mit seinen Chachoo's und verschaffte sich damit eine gute Ausgangsposition für eine spannende Saison. Zweiter wurde das belgische Kraftpaket Yentel Caers (JP/NeilPryde), der wie immer konstant war. Dritter wurde sein belgischer Landsmann Dieter van der Eyken (Severne), der mit seinem Repertoire an Freestyle-Moves beeindruckte, die er auf beiden Seiten ausführen kann. Diese Vielseitigkeit des ehemaligen Weltmeisters hat ihm sicherlich geholfen, die teilweise kniffligen Bedingungen auf dem Chocolate Lake in Österreich zu meistern. Das war's mit der Veranstaltung! Der Start in die Freestyle Pro Tour 2022 ist geglückt und die Karten sind neu gemischt, jetzt geht es um den Titel! Als nächstes steht am 9. Juni das Event in Vieste, Italien an. PWA World Tour 22 – Update -

Aktualisierung des PWA-Terminkalenders 2022 - World Cup am Gardasee verschoben.

Die PWA arbeitet hart daran, die Möglichkeiten dieser Saison zu maximieren, jetzt, wo die Beschränkungen auf der ganzen Welt allmählich aufgehoben werden, auch wenn es nach zwei Jahren der Sperrungen und des eingeschränkten Tourismus immer noch Herausforderungen gibt. Daher haben die wichtigsten Partner der geplanten World Cup am Gardasee beschlossen, die Veranstaltung auf den Frühsommer 2023 zu verschieben, was für die Region vorteilhafter sein wird und wenn die verbleibenden Probleme, die sich aus der Pandemie ergeben haben, besser überwunden sein dürften. Der geplante Termin ist die zweite Maiwoche des nächsten Jahres. Zurzeit gibt es keine weiteren wichtigen Entwicklungen bei den für 2022 geplanten Veranstaltungen, aber wir werden euch über alle Änderungen informieren, sobald sie eintreten.

Bernd Roediger verteidigt erfolgreich die Single Elimination und feiert seinen ersten Sieg auf der World Tour

Nachdem die Vorhersage für das Wochenende, an dem die Erwartungen unglaublich hoch waren, nicht eintraf, sah es so aus, als könnten wir die Double Elimination des 2022 SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cups nicht beenden. Nachdem jedoch ein Check am frühen Morgen ergab, dass Ponta Preta flach war, wurde die Entscheidung getroffen, den Contest nach Little Ho'okipa zu verlegen. Diese Entscheidung machte sich bezahlt, denn die Double Elimination wurde am letzten Tag mit weniger als einer Stunde Tageslicht beendet. Little Ho'okipa bot einen ganz anderen Charakter als Ponta Preta, aber am Ende setzte sich derselbe Mann durch: Bernd Roediger (Flikka / Hot Sails Maui / Black Project) verteidigte erfolgreich seinen ersten Platz aus der Single Elimination und holte sich seinen ersten Sieg auf der World Tour. Double Elimination Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) finally brought Camille Juban’s (AV Boards / S2Maui) epic comeback to an end to setup a final against - Bernd Roediger. If the Brazilian was going to come back and win the event then he would be required to beat Roediger twice with this being the Double Elimination. However, Roediger wasn’t in the mood for letting this opportunity slip through his hands and he soon put the contest to bed with an accomplished display. The victory here was made all the more impressive due to the final being sailed in completely different conditions to the Single Elimination as the 25-year-old showed he is an extremely well rounded sailor, who is capable of beating the best sailors in the world, whether it be in pumping down-the-line at Ponta Preta, or 3 foot choppy Little Ho’okipa. Browne was one of the favourites for the event title and he proved why over the last 9 days. The Brazilian just misses out on making the perfect start to the season, but he can be delighted with his efforts here, which ensures he gets his latest world title challenge off to an excellent start and now has the perfect platform to build upon as the season progresses. The comeback story of the Double Elimination belongs to - Camille Juban (AV Boards / S2Maui) - after the 31-year-old went on a tear to force his way on to the podium after a quite brilliant display of sailing, which saw him win 7 heats on the bounce. Elsewhere, Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) and Antoine Martin (Starboard / North Sails) both drop one place from the Single Elimination to 4th and 5th respectively. Takara Ishii (RRD / RRD Sails) was another sailor to make a surging comeback through the Double Elimination and the 21-year-old will be absolutely delighted with his efforts today after advancing through 5 consecutive heats to earn his best result to date on the World Tour - 6th. The event couldn’t have started much worse for - Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / SWOX) - after the Spaniard was knocked out in the opening round of the Single Elimination. However, in true champion fashion the 3-time world champion turned things around in the Double Elimination and eventually managed to recover into 7th place. Like Takara Ishii, Takuma Sugi (Tabou / GA Sails / Black Project), also walks away from Cabo Verde with his best result to date on the World Tour - 8th - and both of these young Japanese rippers look like the real deal with bright futures ahead of them. The top 10 is completed by local legend - Josh Angulo (Angulo) and Ricardo Campello (Naish / Naish Sails) - but we’ll take more of a look through the rankings in the Event Summary. Today though belongs to Bernd Roediger after claiming a quite magnificent victory. Congratulations once again. Ein verzwickter Wettkampftag mit lediglich 4 weiteren Heats, während die Zeit abläuft.

Ähnlich wie gestern begann auch Tag 8 des 2022 SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cups vielversprechend mit der Hoffnung, dass der vorhergesagte langanhaltende Swell endlich in Ponta Preta ankommen würde. Um 7 Uhr morgens wurden die Teilnehmer jedoch mit relativ flachen Bedingungen begrüßt, und zwischen den einzelnen Sets lag fast eine Stunde. Im Laufe des Vormittags wurden die Bedingungen langsam besser, so dass die Double Elimination gegen 10:30 Uhr Ortszeit fortgesetzt werden konnte. Da die Abstände zwischen den Sets immer noch sehr lang waren, konnten die Surfer in 45-minütigen Heats zeigen, was sie drauf haben. Aber auch mit langen Heats konnten nur 4 weitere Heats gefahren werden, bevor die Wellen wieder zurückgingen. Double Elimination Heat 19 had already been cancelled two times before today, but on the third time of asking it was eventually completed, which saw 5-time PWA Wave World Champion - Philip Köster (Severne / Severne Sails / Black Project) - crash out of the event in the first round, as Arthur Arutkin (Fanatic / Duotone / Black Project) and Julian Salmonn (Bruch Boards / GUNSAILS) advanced. Philip Köster reflects: “I feel alright. For me there was a lot more luck involved than proper sailing to be honest. If you didn’t get the right during the 45 minutes, then you’d miss out. You can’t win anything unless lady luck is on your side in those conditions - there weren’t many sets, so I didn’t have much chance. I’ll now just go and sail somewhere, reset and try and enjoy my time on the island.” As previously mentioned, Takara Ishii (RRD / RRD Sails) had looked dangerous in the opening round of the Single Elimination, but just missed out on a place in the next round. However, the young Japanese ripper built upon an accomplished showing in round one of the double to win Heat 20 ahead of - Camille Juban (AV Boards / S2Maui) - who also sailed a solid heat. Baptiste Cloarec (RRD / RRD Sails), who was so impressive in his opening heat, looked a little out of sorts as he exited the contest with fellow Frenchman - Antony Ruenes (Tabou / GA Sails). In what would turn out to be the penultimate heat of the day - Marino Gil (Goya Windsurfing) and Graham Ezzy (Tabou / Ezzy) - booked their places in the third round of the Double Elimnination at the expense of Josep Pons (I-99 / Point-7 / Black Project) and Liam Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne / Black Project). Marino Gil: “I’m super happy to be competing here, I think I got some of the best aerials of my life here, so I’m super stoked with it. Advancing makes it even better, so I’m happy.” Meanwhile, Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone), continued his come back through the double and the 3-time world champion looked in excellent form as he posted the only excellent wave score fo the day - 8 points - to win Heat 22 ahead of Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / SWOX). The skippers’ meeting for tomorrow will be decided later today. Ein unbeständiges Ponta Preta bietet immer wieder einige Chancen, während die Double Elimination beginnt.

Die Windsurfer trafen sich früh am 6. Tag des 2022 SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cups, aber es dauerte ein paar Stunden, bis die ersten brauchbaren Sets in Ponta Preta auftauchten. Aufgrund der Unbeständigkeit des Swells bekamen die Surfer wieder lange Heats - 40-45 Minuten - um zu zeigen, wozu sie bei schwierigen Bedingungen fähig sind. Die Wellen waren typischerweise schulter- bis kopfhoch, was bedeutete, dass die Surfer keine Angst haben mussten, auf den Felsen aufzulaufen, um ihre beste Punktzahl zu erreichen. Double Elimination If you cast your mind back to the Single Elimination, Takara Ishii (RRD / RRD Sails) earned the highest single wave score in the opening heat of the contest, but couldn’t find a solid back up wave to negotiate his way past - Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) and Camille Juban (AV Boards / S2Maui). The young Japanese sailor was therefore involved in the opening round of the Double and he looked extremely accomplished with late hits under the lip and critical turns, which rightfully earned him a spot in the next round. Joining, Ishii, will be Antony Ruenes (Tabou / GA Sails), who edged out fellow Frenchmen - Titouan Flechet (Tabou / Hot Sails Maui) and Alex Grand-Guillot (Fanatic / Duotone) - with the 32-year-old earning his best wave of the heat with his final effort to secure his place in the second round. Josep Pons (I-99 / Point-7 / Black Project) made a confident start to Heat 17 as the 37-year-old dropped a 5.38 point ride to open his account in the double, which would turn out to be the highest wave score of the heat. Marino Gil (Goya Windsurfing) held on to second place to advance, despite - Antoine Albert (Goya Windsurfing) trying to produce a buzzer-beater. The New Caledonian landed two flakas / takas on the last wave of the heat, but never really used the wave to initiate the move as he attempted to manufacture a score. It’s not every day that you see Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / SWOX) in the first round of a Double Elimination and the Spaniard may have been forgiven for feeling the pressure. However, as a 3-time World Champion, Fernandez, remained as ice cool as ever as he quickly put himself in control of Heat 18 with a 6.38 and 4.88. That meant the remainder of Heat 18 would basically be a race for second place and on this occasion - Loïck Lesauvage (Goya Windsurfing) - was able to claim that place ahead of fellow rookies - Adam Warchol (Quatro / Goya Windsurfing) and Miguel Chapuis (JP / NeilPryde). A couple of attempts were made to complete Heat 19, but on both occasions, the wind and waves simply didn’t co-operate, which led to two cancellations, so the resail of Heat 19 featuring - 5-time world champion - Philip Köster (Severne / Severne / Black Project), Arthur Arutkin (Fanatic / Duotone / Black Project), Julian Salmonn (Bruch Boards / GUNSAILS) and Mike Morales (Quatro / Goya Windsurfing) - will be first up on Saturday. The sailors will meet at 8am tomorrow morning with the action commencing from 8:30am (GMT-1) onwards - if conditions allow. Hopefully, as the day progresses the 20s long period swell will start to wrap around into Ponta Preta. Wing Foil Tour 2022

Im Rahmen der „Deutschen Wing Foil Tour“ wird es in diesem Jahr drei Ranglistenregatten geben, und zwar auf Norderney (3.-5. Juni), in Schönberg (16.-19. Juni) und auf Fehmarn (22.-24. Juli).

Die Deutsche Wing Foil Tour 2022 startet vom 3.-5. Juni mit einem großen Paukenschlag beim „White Sands Festival“ auf der Nordseeinsel Norderney. Das traditionsreiche Festival findet seit 1998 statt und ist bekannt für guten Wassersport, spannende Beach Volleyball Matches und fette Partys. Freut euch auf anständige Wellen, elektrische Beats und zahlreiche wassersportbegeisterte Zuschauer am Januskopf. Weitere Infos unter https://www.whitesandsfestival.de
Danach geht es vom 16.-19. Juni an die Ostsee zum „Foil Festival“ am Schönberger Strand. Hier finden direkt vor der Seebrücke wieder die Deutschen Meisterschaften statt, bei denen die besten Wingfoiler in verschiedenen Altersklassen und Disziplinen um den Meisterpokal kämpfen. Auf der Strandmesse und auf der Showbühne trefft ihr die Entwickler, Hersteller und Urväter des Sports. 36 Wingfoil-Marken stehen Rede und Antwort und stellen ihr Material zum kostenlosen Test bereit. Das für über 300 Fahrzeuge ausgelegte Beachcamp liegt nur 300 m vom Eventgelände entfernt. Weitere Infos unter https://foilfestival.de
Nach einem Monat Wettkampfpause könnt ihr dann vom 22.-24. Juli die Foils wieder schärfen und euer Können beim „SUP & Wingfoil Festival Fehmarn“ unter Beweis stellen. Hier habt ihr die letzte Möglichkeit, euch einen der vordersten Plätze in der Jahresrangliste zu sichern. Aufs Wasser geht es je nach Wetterbedingungen und Windrichtung entweder am Südstrand oder am Burger Binnensee. Auf Deutschlands Sonneninsel erwarten euch türkisfarbenes Wasser, leckere Food-Stände und die wichtigsten SUP- und Foil-Hersteller der Boardsport-Industrie. Neben den Wingfoil-Regatten gibt es kostenloses Test-Equipment, SUP Rennen und fetzige Partys direkt am Strand. Übernachten kann man im großen Beachcamp direkt neben dem Eventgelände. Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme an einer oder mehreren Regatten ist die Mitgliedschaft in einem dem DSV angehörigen Wasserportverein wie z.B. dem Deutschen Wing Foil Club (DWFC). Das Startgeld beträgt zwischen 35 und 55 € und ist vor Ort zu entrichten. Anmeldungen sind ab sofort möglich und erfolgen per E-Mail an info@dwfv.de unter Angabe des Namens, der vollständigen Kontaktdaten, des Geburtsdatums und der gewünschten Startdisziplinen. Bei allen Regatten werden Wettkämpfe in den beiden Disziplinen Surf-Freestyle und Surf-Slalom ausgetragen. Cabo Verde PWA Tag 4:

Ein weiterer Ruhetag steht an und die Aufmerksamkeit richtet sich auf eine Strandreinigung und das Wochenende.

Da die Bedingungen nicht geeignet waren, den Wettbewerb fortzusetzen, wurde die Aufmerksamkeit der Einheimischen und der Event-Crew sowie der meisten Windsurfer auf die SOMWR x PWA x Project Biodiversity Strandsäuberungsaktion am Serra Negra Beach gelenkt, um die Umwelt auf der Insel zu verbessern und gleichzeitig das Bewusstsein für die Bedeutung von Recycling und Nachhaltigkeit zu stärken. Looking Ahead As far as the Double Elimination goes it looks as though we will be aiming towards the weekend to resume the event. Current forecasts for the 26th/27th of February indicate a long period swell and strong trade winds, which could, if we are lucky enough, let us see Ponta Preta at its absolute best. The sailors will meet again tomorrow morning for a 10am skippers meeting. Bernd Roediger holt sich nach einem grandiosen Tag in Ponta Preta den Sieg in der Single Elimination.

Ponta Preta lieferte auch am zweiten Tag des SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cups alles, was das Herz begehrt. Perfekt geshapte, hohe Wellen, die von ablandigen Winden unterstützt wurden, sorgten für einen spektakulären Tag, der in einem spannenden Finale der Single Elimination endete. Morgan Noireaux (HI | JP / NeilPryde / Black Project) *Ergebnisse können sich noch ändern Single Elimination Bernd Roediger (Flikka / Hot Sails Maui / Black Project) looked extremely dangerous in his opening heat yesterday and the 25-year-old built upon that momentum on day two to book his place in the 4-man final. Prior to that, with 45 minute heats once again, Roediger was more than happy to patiently play the waiting game in the quarterfinals by selecting just 4 waves during that time. However, it’s quality, not quantity, and his patience paid off as he set the second highest heat score of the contest - 17.5 points - to advance into the semifinals. Roediger was more active in the semifinal and needed a late flurry of waves to edge out Boujmaa Guilloul (Goya Windsurfing) and Takuma Sugi (Tabou / GA Sails / Black Project) for the remaining place in the final. In the final, Roediger, raced into an early lead and it would be one he wouldn’t relinquish as he made the most of an important early exchange to be the only sailor to record a wave in the excellent range in the hour long final - 8.19 points. Throughout the Single Elimination, Roediger, has demonstrated, not only his wave riding prowess, but also his wave reading prowess by making sure the wave dictates what he is going to do, rather than trying to force the situation. Ultimately, the American’s free flowing style earned him his just rewards as he walks away from the Single Elimination with the top spot on the podium. Roediger will now look to defend that crown in the Double. The final proved to be an incredibly close fought affair and there was less than a point separating 1st-4th after 60 minutes of battle. In the end, Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) couldn’t quite overhaul Roediger, although there was just 0.18 of a point separating the two sailors by the time the buzzer sounded. Browne demonstrated more of his trademark, powerful wave riding and will be gunning at the bit for the Double Elimination. Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) completes the podium in the Single Elimination - edging out Antoine Martin (Starboard / North Sails) by just 0.03 of a point, whilst only being 0.96 of a point off of victory himself. TT looked totally in tune with Ponta Preta once again as he effortlessly combined perfectly timed aerials with cutbacks in the pocket, but may have overcooked it once or twice in the final, not that you can berate him for that as he went all out in search for victory. Antoine Martin posted the highest heat score of the contest thus far during his quarterfinal - 17.76 points as the 28-year-old launched into the biggest aerials of the day with exquisite timing to leave the crowds on the beach in rapturous applause. Martin is usually a crowd pleaser and in the final, he landed a crazy one-footed aerial, but it wasn’t quite enough to force himself into the top 3. Martin also walks away with the wave of the day after being rewarded with a 9.38 point ride after punting a huge aerial. As things currently stand, local hero - Josh Angulo (Angulo) - shares joint 5th place alongside Boujmaa Guilloul (Goya Windsurfing), Morgan Noireaux (JP / NeilPryde / Black Project) and Takuma Sugi (Tabou / GA Sails / Black Project), who will be delighted with his efforts in the Single Elimination. Sugi is still only 19-years-old and was the youngest sailor to reach the top 8, whilst he was less than a point from qualifying for the final. The forecast for tomorrow predicts slightly lighter winds - 15-20 knots - whilst the swell is expected to drop from 2.6 metres @ 11 seconds to 1.8-2m @ 11 seconds, so there is a chance of starting the Double Elimination. Looking further ahead it does look like there is a possibility of a long period swell towards the end of the event, but we will just have to monitor how that forecast progresses. Ponta Preta produziert einige goldene Momente zu Beginn der Single Elimination.

Die Entscheidung, ein frühes Skippers' Meeting für den ersten Tag des 2022 SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cups einzuberufen, zahlte sich aus, da die Single Elimination fast unmittelbar begann. Mit einer langen Zeitspanne zwischen den Sets hatten die Windsurfer 45 Minuten Zeit, um ihre besten zwei Wellen zu surfen, so dass Geduld und Wellenauswahl für den Erfolg unerlässlich waren. Die Wellengröße reichte von hüftbreit bis hin zu gelegentlichem Logo-High-Set. Ponta Preta zeigte, wie gut es sein kann, und mit seinem perfekten Shape war viel spektakuläre Action an der Tagesordnung. Single Elimination Takara Ishii (RRD / RRD Sails) missed out on a place in the next round despite earning the highest single wave score in the first heat of the day. The Japanese sailor earned 6.5 points with his 5th wave, but was left ruing having to count a 2.12 point wave as his backup. In the end, Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) and Camille Juban (AV Boards / S2Maui) booked their place in the next round with both sailors showing off their wave riding prowess with perfectly timed aerials over the infamous Ponta Preta rocks. Heat 2 featured local legend - Josh Angulo (Angulo) - and the two-time world champion, who also won here in 2007 & ‘09, survived the opening round unscathed as he used his extensive local knowledge to book himself a place in the top 16. It was world title hopeful - Ricardo Campello (Naish / Naish Sails) - who really caught the eye though as the 36-year-old earned the first excellent wave score - 8.12 points - of the contest, which saw Campello open with a radical aerial before unleashing a searing full rail turn. Maui Boys - Graham Ezzy (Tabou / GA Sails) and Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / SWOX) - looked right at home in Ponta Preta as they both produced solid performances to successfully book their place in the next round at the expense of Antoine Albert (Goya Windsurfing) and Adam Warchol (Quatro / Goya Windsurfing), who will now have to wait for the Double Elimination for their chance to stage a comeback. The vice-world champion from 2019 - Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) - was involved in Heat 4 and the Brazilian looked to be in impressive form as he showed off a variety of stylish turns and aerials, whilst he also came incredibly close to landing a radical air taka. Based on his early form here Browne should have a deep run as he looks to get another title challenge up and running. Meanwhile, Morgan Noireaux (JP / NeilPryde / Black Project Fins) also looked in tune with Ponta Preta and the former two-time Aloha Classic Champion is safely through to the second round alongside Browne. Heat 5 produced arguably the biggest, but not the only upset of the day, as 3-time world champion - Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / SWOX) - crashed out in the opening round. This was always a potential banana skin heat against 3 of the next generation of sailors - Jake Schettewi (JP / NeilPryde / Black Project), 21, Liam Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne / Black Project), 18, & Marino Gil (Goya Windsurfing), 19, who had nothing to lose and everything to gain, but everyone would’ve still thought Fernandez would prevail. Take nothing away from the young guns though as they brought the fight to the Spaniard. Schettewi and Dunkerbeck junior both made quick starts to put Fernandez under the cosh with Schettewi dropping a 6.5 point wave, whilst Dunkerbeck opened with a 6.38 point ride. Fernandez responded late on, but unfortunately, his two highest scoring waves, which were his last two waves, just proved too little too late as he missed out by just quarter of a point. Schettewi and Dunkerbeck march on after claiming the biggest scalp of their careers. Antoine Martin (Starboard / North Sails), who won the 2019 Aloha Classic, made a confident start to proceedings and never really looked in danger of not advancing from Heat 6. This heat quickly turned into a fight for second place and it couldn’t have been much closer with just 1.24 points eventually separating 2nd-4th. In the end, Boujmaa Guilloul (Goya Windsurfing) managed to secure that all important second place, whilst Loïck Lesauvage (Goya Windsurfing) and Josep Pons (I-99 / Point-7 / Black Project) agonisingly just missed out. Heat 7 proved to be the heat of the day as the French duo of Baptiste Cloarec (RRD / RRD Sails) & Jules Denel (JP / NeilPryde) both linked waves going into the excellent range. 21-year-old Cloarec read the wave beautifully and walks away from the opening day with the highest scoring heat of the day - 14.62 points - after combining perfectly executed aerials with stylish turns, whilst Denel equals the highest single wave score - 8.12 points - after managing to land 4 aerials on one wave. The last heat of the day - Heat 8 - produced the other major upset as reigning world champion - Philip Köster (Severne / Severne Sails / Black Project) - also suffered a loss in the opening round. The 5-time world champion looked like he struggled in the fading wind and only really had one wave of note - earning 5.12 points for a well-timed aerial. However, Bernd Roediger (Flikka / Hot Sails Maui / Black Project) and Takuma Sugi (Tabou / GA Sails / Black Project) both lit up the stage with brilliant performances to progress into the top 16. Roediger in particular exuded phenomenal flow with the wave and made things look easy and he looks a real threat moving forwards. The 25-year-old equaled the highest scoring wave of Campello and Denel - 8.12 points - after tacking on to a set wave and expertly riding it all the way down the point. Sugi also looked in fine form and was the only sailor to land an air taka back into the wave. With the wind and waves expected to continue into Monday the skippers’ meeting has been called for 8am tomorrow morning with the action commencing from 8:30am (GMT-1) onwards. The swell is expected to increase to 2.6 metres @ 11 seconds, but turn slightly more northerly, so we will just have to see how that hits the reef at Ponta Preta. Heute wurde die Anmeldung für den Multivan Windsurf Cup freigeschaltet. Ab sofort kann man sich für die Regatten der deutschen Topserie im Windsurfen anmelden. Hier der direkte Link zur Anmeldeseite: www.windsurfcup.de/registration-2022 Die wichtigsten Informationen zu den Regatten, wie zum Beispiel die genauen Wettkampftage sowie die Zeiten von Einschreibung und Siegerehrung, kann man in den Pre-NoR finden. So kann man optimal für die Regatten der kommenden Saison planen. Die Pre-NoR stehen bereits auf der offiziellen Website des Multivan Windsurf Cups online: www.windsurfcup.de/for-riders Das Meldegeld für die Regatten ist in den jeweiligen (Pre-)NoR zu finden. Normalerweise beträgt es 100 Euro. Damen, Youth & Junior erhalten wie bisher einen Rabatt von 50% und zahlen dementsprechend nur 50 Euro Meldegeld. Wir freuen uns, in diesem Zusammenhang noch einmal auf die „boot Cashback Aktion“ (www.windsurfcup.de/boot-cashback) hinweisen zu können. Björn Dunkerbeck ist neuer Veranstalter des Gran Canaria World Cups.

Als das wohl zuverlässigste Event der PWA Tour in den letzten 33 Jahren, hat der Gran Canaria PWA World Cup in den Erfolgen vieler der größten Namen des Sports mitgewirkt. Er hat seinen Teil dazu beigetragen, dass Weltmeister auf dem Podium standen, und Pozo Izquierdo, der Veranstaltungsort selbst, war der Schmelztiegel, der einige dieser Champions geformt hat, von ihren ersten Versuchen in den extremen Winden von Pozo bis hin zum ultimativen Titel des PWA-Weltmeisters. Die Veranstaltung geht in ihr 34. Jahr (plus/minus ein paar Jahre aufgrund von weltweiten Pandemien!) und wird sich weiterentwickeln, da die erfahrenen Hände, die die Veranstaltung organisieren, ein weiteres Mal wechseln. Seit 2012 haben Pozos berühmteste Töchter Daida (Severne / Severne Sails / Maui Ultra Fins) und Iballa Moreno (Severne / Severne Sails / Maui Ultra Fins) das Ruder in der Hand und haben das Event mit viel Geschick zum größten eigenständigen Wave-Event der Tour gemacht. Während ihrer Ägide hat sich das Event nicht nur zu einer Veranstaltung mit feinster Profi-Action entwickelt, sondern auch zu einer riesigen Gruppe aufstrebender Nachwuchssurfer, die vor einem weltweiten Publikum auftreten - und das alles live im Internet übertragen. Darüber hinaus haben Daida und Iballa die Gleichberechtigung auf und neben dem Wasser vorangetrieben, indem sie den Gran Canaria PWA World Cup zum ersten Event mit gleichem Preisgeld für Männer und Frauen machten und den Grundstein dafür legten, dass alle Events der Tour ab 2021 ein gleiches Preisgeldsystem haben werden. Aber alle guten Dinge müssen zu einem Ende kommen, und Daida und Iballa haben beschlossen, ihre Organisatorenhüte an den Nagel zu hängen und sich auf andere Dinge zu konzentrieren, die ihren sehr vollen Terminkalender ausmachen. Die Nachfolge der Zwillinge wird Gran Canarias bekanntester Sohn, kein Geringerer als der mehrfache Weltmeister Björn Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne / SOMWR), antreten. Björn ist zweifellos der erfolgreichste Windsurfer in der Geschichte der Insel. Seine Wettkampferfahrung und sein umfassendes Wissen über den Sport, die Insel und ihre Gemeinschaft machen ihn zum idealen Mann, um die Veranstaltung in ihrer nächsten Phase zu leiten. Ausgestattet mit der Erfahrung in der Organisation der Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge und einer stolzen Geschichte von Veranstaltungen in Pozo, möchte Bjorn auf den Erfolgen der Zwillinge aufbauen, um sicherzustellen, dass der Gran Canaria World Cup an der Spitze der Highwind-Wettbewerbe in der ganzen Welt bleibt. Wir sehen uns ab Ende Mai in La Palme!

Der Prince of Speed 2022 wird am 30. Mai in La Palme, am Spot Le Rouet (Aude), eröffnet. Wieder einmal werden große Namen des Windsurfens erwartet, allen voran Antoine Albeau, dessen Ziel es erneut sein wird, Geschwindigkeitsrekorde zu brechen. Der diesjährige Prince of Speed, der in der Speedwindsurf-Szene mittlerweile ein absolutes Muss ist, findet vom 30. Mai bis zum 28. Juni am herrlichen Strand von Le Rouet statt! Der World Speed Tour Cup - der 2021 von Matteo Iachino und Heidi Ulrich gewonnen wurde - wird außerdem (an 2 oder 3 Tagen) in der Waiting Period zwischen dem 1. September und dem 15. Oktober 2022 stattfinden, ebenso wie voraussichtlich eine französische Meisterschaft. Viele Top-Rider haben bereits ihr Kommen für den World Speed Tour Cup bestätigt. Dazu gehört Antoine Albeau, der 2020 an dem Spot in Aude den Geschwindigkeitsweltrekord im Windsurfen auf der Nautischen Meile (1852 m) mit 43,04 Knoten (79,7 km/h) Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit auf einem klassischen Windsurfbrett mit Finne aufstellte. Der Mann mit 25 Weltmeistertiteln im Windsurfen wird zusammen mit Nicolas Goyard, William Huppert, Matteo Iachino, Vincent Valkenaers, Pascal Boulanger, Thierry Bielak, Ben Van Der Steen, Cédric Bordes, Maciek Rutkowski und vielen weiteren Speedsurfern an den Start gehen. Der Prince of Speed bietet als einzige Veranstaltung in Europa als Rekordzeiten per Videotiming erstellte Durchschnittszeiten über 500 m und die Nautische Meile (1852 m) an, die gegenwärtig die einzigen offiziellen, im WSSRC zugelassenen Rekorde sind.

Defi Wind 2022

Anmeldefrist beginnt am 28. Februar!

Wir wissen endlich, wann die Anmeldung für das 20. Défi Wind in Gruissan beginnt! Sie ist für den 28. Februar angesetzt, auf den Tag genau in einem Monat, wie die Organisatoren der großen Veranstaltung für den Windsport mitgeteilt haben... "Geduld ist die Kunst des Hoffens", schrieb Vauvenargues... Und in Zeiten der Covid-19-Pandemie ist die Hoffnung eine sehr nützliche Tugend für Windsurfer! Nach der Absage der Veranstaltungen 2020 und 2021 des legendären Défi Wind und der Durchführung des großartigen Défi Wind SuperStars vom 29. Oktober bis zum 5. November sind nun alle Augen auf die Veranstaltung 2022 des Défi Wind gerichtet, die endlich das 20-jährige Jubiläum der Veranstaltung in Gruissan gebührend feiern soll. Die Organisatoren haben soeben den offiziellen Anmeldestart für die Défi 2022 bekannt gegeben: den 28. Februar. Die Veranstaltung wird vom 26. bis 29. Mai in Gruissan stattfinden. Es werden etwa 1.000 Teilnehmer ab 13 Jahren zugelassen, wobei wie immer eine FFVoile-Lizenz (jährlich oder befristet) erforderlich ist und ein ärztliches Attest, das keine Einwände gegen die Ausübung des Segelsports in Wettkämpfen erhebt, verlangt wird. Das Material ist frei, wobei zu beachten ist, dass es keinen offiziellen Start bei Wind unter 20 Knoten geben wird, um einen "sauberen" Start zu gewährleisten. Alle Freunde des Défi Wind drücken nun die Daumen, dass der 20. Défi Wind de Gruissan vom 26. bis 29. Mai dieses Jahres stattfinden wird... Bis dahin kannst du dir also den 28.
